Teesside University is a public university with its main campus in Middlesbrough, Teesside, in North East England. It has over 21,000 students, including those in selected MBA and EMBA programs at Durham University’s Business School.
Teesside University was founded on 2 July 1930 as the North East England Institute of Higher Education. It gained university status in 1992 and was renamed Teesside University College.
In 2006 the institution became a member of the Russell Group. The university is based around its original campus near the center of Middlesbrough, which houses the bar and catering facilities of its School of Law, Criminology, and Social Sciences; the complex also houses many administrative departments and teaching rooms. Its newer site at Stockton-on-Tees is home to its School of Health Studies and School of Nursing & Midwifery; this campus has grown rapidly over recent years with the opening of a new teaching hospital (the James Cook University Hospital).
The university also has an overseas campus in Dubai offering postgraduate degrees for international students who may not be able to attend its UK campuses due to visa restrictions or other reasons. It also has links with the University of Aberdeen through its shared facilities at Gray’s School of Art and Newcastle University through the Newcastle Law School.
The university has gained national recognition for its teaching standards and excellence in research. It has been awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education on four occasions (2000, 2005, 2007, and 2009). In 2012 it received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher Education for its work in entrepreneurship education. It also won the award for the best new course provider in Europe at Europski Kongres o Poduzetništvu – European Entrepreneurship Congress in 2012.

- University Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is available to all new undergraduate students (except mature students) who are admitted to Teesside University and meet our academic criteria.
- International Student Excellence Scholarships: This scholarship is available to new international undergraduate entrants who meet the academic criteria (and whose first language isn’t English).
