About University of Hull for Nigerian
The University of Hull is a public research university in Kingston upon Hull, a city in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
It was founded in 1927 as University College Hull. The main university campus is located in Hull and is home to the Hull York Medical School, a joint initiative with the University of York. Hull University Union serves students.
The institution was renamed the University of Hull in 1932. Hull is organized into five faculties: Art & Design; Business & Law; Education; Humanities & Social Sciences; and Science & Technology.
It has 24,000 students and 2,400 staff meaning it’s somewhat smaller than other significant universities but still large enough to offer plenty of choices regarding courses and subjects. The main university campus is located in Hull and is home to the Hull York Medical School, a joint initiative with the University of York.
One way to think of the University of Hull is as a bridge between two cities. Hull is the largest city in the ceremonial county of East Riding of Yorkshire, while York is one of England’s most historic and beautiful cities.
The University of Hull has campuses in both cities, though its main campus is in Hull. Students are served by Hull University Union, the student union of the university. The University Union is run by students and is responsible for providing services to students (and sometimes the wider community).
The University of Hull began in 1927 with the merger of three colleges: the University College of Hull, founded in 1828; the Yorkshire College of Agriculture, founded in 1885; and the Victoria Road Technical Institute. The first principal was Sir John Leach.
The university’s early years saw it develop a reputation for producing far more teachers than engineers, emphasizing teaching over research. The university also offered to award degrees by distance learning as early as 1902.

The University of Hull is 52nd in the Times Good University Guide 2022 and 53rd in the Guardian University Guide 2022.
The University of Hull is one of the highest risers nationally. Among Yorkshire’s universities, Hull is the highest riser and is now in the top 4 – with the universities of York, Leeds, and Sheffield taking the top 3 spots (REF 2021).
As reported by THE, the results rank the University of Hull as 55 (joint) out of 157 institutions – and mark another significant success for the University as it moves up the rankings. The University is one of the highest climbers – increasing its overall ranking by 17 from 72 (REF 2014) to 55 (joint). For research impact, the University has climbed 23 places to 42 (from joint 65th in 2014).

The University of Hull offers a George W Gray International Scholarship, and to be considered, you will need to:
Be an international student holding an offer to study Chemistry, joining in year 1 (Level 4) or entering directly into year 2 (Level 5) or year 3 (Level 6)
Have achieved IELTS 6.5, with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill or equivalent
Have High School Chemistry equivalent to UK A-level grade B
Pass a Chemistry proficiency test set by the University of Hull
