The NECO SSCE timetable tells you the date, time and paper for each subject in the exam. This guide shows you how to find the official timetable, read it correctly and plan your revision. For the latest published dates, see our page on the NECO 2026/2027 timetable.
What is the NECO SSCE?
The Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) is run by the National Examinations Council (NECO). The SSCE Internal is taken by school candidates, usually in June and July. NECO also runs an SSCE for private candidates and a GCE later in the year. A NECO result is one of the documents some UK universities consider for undergraduate or foundation entry. See WAEC and NECO for Nigerian students.
How to download the official NECO timetable
- Visit the official NECO website and open the page for examination timetables or press releases.
- Choose the exam type: SSCE Internal, SSCE External or GCE.
- Download the PDF and save a copy on your phone.
- Check that the year and exam period match the one you registered for.
Do not pay for a timetable. NECO publishes it free of charge. Be careful of websites claiming to sell exam papers or “expo”.

How to prepare using the timetable
- Count the days from today to each paper and plan revision backwards from the earliest.
- Revise hard subjects early and give extra time to Mathematics and English, since universities often check them.
- Practise past questions in the same time as the exam.
- Keep your photocard, pen and ID ready the day before each paper.
